Shubinikov de-Hass van Alphen Oscillation and magnetic properties of p-type polycrystalline ZrTe5

چکیده
We report the magnetoresistance (MR) and Shubnikov de Haas (SdH) oscillations in the polycrystalline p-type ZrTe5.We observed a small cyclotron effective mass (m*~ 0.05me), very high mobility of ~ 2.2 10 4 cm -2 /V-sand the signature of topological protected surface states in the compound. The MR data follows the three dimensional Weyl semimetal like behavior. Kohler’s rule is obeyed at low temperatures. The SdH oscillations show a single predominant oscillation frequency in fast Fourier transform spectra. The magnetic data supports the existence of topological surface states showing zero cusp paramagnetic susceptibility.

De Hass-van Alphen and magnetoresistance reveal predominantly single-band transport behavior in PdTe2
Research on two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) has grown rapidly over the past several years, from fundamental studies to the development of next generation technologies. Recently, it has been reported that the MX2-type PdTe2 exhibits superconductivity with topological surface state, making this compound a promising candidate for investigating possible topological supercond...
متن کاملTwo-loop QED with External Magnetic Field
In two loop effective Lagrangian, the low temperature expansion of the QED3+1 with a constant magnetic field and a finite chemical potential is performed. We then calculate the total fermion density, some components of polarization operator and de Hass -van Alphen oscillations. We find that there is a significant contribution from two-loop expansion to magnetization and fermion density for high...
متن کاملThe Spherical Landau Problem
The magnetization for electrons on a two-dimensional sphere, under a spherically symmetrical normal magnetic field has been studied in the large field limit. This allows us to use an Euclidean approximation for low energies electron states getting an analytical solution for the problem and avoiding the difficulties of quantization on a curved manifold. At low temperatures our results are exact ...
متن کاملMagnetic Fingerprints of Fractal Spectra and Duality of Hofstadter Models
We study the de-Haas van Alphen oscillations in the magnetization of the Hofstadter model. Near a split band the magnetization is a rapidly oscillations function of the Fermi energy with lip shaped envelopes. For generic magnetic fields this structure appears on all scales and provides a thermodynamic fingerprint of the fractal properties of the model. The analysis applies equally well to the t...
متن کاملThe phase of the de Haas–van Alphen oscillations, the Berry phase, and band-contact lines in metals
As it is well known [1], a frequency of de Haas–van Alphen oscillations, or of other oscillation effects in the magnetic field, gives an extremal cross-section area Sex of the Fermi surface of a metal. On the other hand, a phase of these oscillations is expressed via the constant of the semiclassical quantization rule for the energy of a Bloch electron in the magnetic field H [2]. However, this...
